How to Give Yourself a Facial Everyday

A facial shouldn’t be a once in a while thing.

Babe, you deserve a facial every. single. day.

Typically, if you want a professional facial, you’ll go into a spa.

Well, you’re about to find out how you can pamper your skin at home! Sure, you may not have all the fancy tools, steam machines, or a hot towel caddy— but you can enjoy a facial every day in the comfort of your home.

Facials are a part of good skin care and keep your skin glowing like a sunbeam! It can encourage cell turnover, clean up acne, minimize pores, and enhance the skin’s moisture.

We recommend you give yourself a facial once a day, preferably at night, when your skin will have all your sleep to soak it all in! Keep in mind that most of these products that are listed are suggestions; you really don’t need to buy too many extra things to begin your facial adventure.

This facial routine is simple— even the laziest gal can catch on.

Here is how to give yourself a facial in 7 simple steps

1     Cleanse

Esté Lauder Soft Clean cleanser is perfect for all skin types for a gentle, yet thorough clean.

Recall that delicious smell of walking through the laundry detergent isle in the store... This cleanser smells that good!

To cleanse, get your hands wet with water, squeeze out a dime size of cleanser, lather it together on your finger tips.

Using your ring and middle fingers only, massage the cleanser around in circles— start at your chin and work upwards to your cheeks, nose, forehead, and finish with your neck and decollete (chest area). Working upwards encourages skin to stay lifted, rather than be pulled downward to sag.

Finally, heat up a towel under the sink until it’s nice and steamy, ring it out, and gently wipe away the cleanser. This steam will help to open up your pores and extract any deep impurities.

2     Exfoliate

The Body Shop's Microdermabrasion Exfoliator has fine stones that work to brighten dull skin and leave your skin feeling smooth as a baby’s bum. You can also use a homemade masque by combining 1 tbsp of coconut oil and 2 tbsp of sugar.

To exfoliate, use a pea size of product and gently scrub your face in the same manner that you would cleanse it. Using circular motions, begin exfoliating in your “T-zone” (chin, nose, forehead) and then extend to the rest of your face and decollete.

Rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a towel to get ready for the next step!

If you truly are giving yourself a facial everyday, skip this step every now and then. Only exfoliate your face 1-2 times a week because you can over-exfoliate and cause your skin to produce more oil and more breakouts!

3     Masque

Ah, our favorite step.

Clay masques cleanse the pores and suck out any impurities in your skin.

Using a clay-based masque and a clean makeup brush, squeeze out a quarter size or more of product and place it on the back of your hand (make sure your hair is pulled back with a Mellow coil, of course).

Begin applying the masque with the brush in back and forth sweeping motions (like you’re painting on a canvas), sweeping from your forehead to neck/chest.

Once your skin is saturated in delicious clay, let the masque sit for 15 minutes to work it’s magic. Get out a steam towel again and wipe away the clay once time is up.

4     Cool and Soothe

Roll a cooling jade roller it onto your skin to relieve dark circles, puffiness, and tighten up your skin.

Start at your under eye area, then move to your cheeks and everywhere else. You can also let the jade roller sit in a bowl of ice for a few minutes to add a kick to the coolness!

5     Moisturize

Moisture is the key to younger, plumper, healthier skin! This is a step you never want to skip.

The Body Shop's Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream is perfect for giving your skin the moisture bath it desires.

Use a dime size of product and moisturize in upward strokes starting from your chin and working up to your forehead. If your skin really needs the moisture boost, you’ll notice it has sucked up a lot of the product. Girl, that is a great sign— Repeat this step again and let your skin hydrate some more.

Tap on some under eye cream afterward to help reduce under eye circles and reduce puffiness and fine lines.

UPWARD STROKES ARE IMPORTANT!

The skin on your face is fragile (especially around your eyes) and being rough with it or pulling it downward often will cause premature sagging and wrinkles.

Repeat this easy routine everyday for the best results. You’ll notice clearer, brighter skin in no time! Add this to your nightly regimen right after you brush your teeth and it will become a luxurious habit that only takes a few extra minutes (very, very relaxing minutes).

Who knew that you could experience life changing skincare by the power of your own hands!?
